The Democratic Republic of Congo has disbursed $137 million from the proceeds of its inaugural Eurobond issuance to finance structural infrastructure projects, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

The release marks the first significant deployment of capital from the $1.25 billion bond raised earlier this year, demonstrating the government's ability to execute on the infrastructure commitments made to international investors during the offering.

The disbursement aligns with President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo’s broader agenda to modernize the country’s physical infrastructure.

By channeling bond proceeds directly into project financing, the government aims to improve transparency in capital allocation and accelerate development in key sectors.

This step is critical for maintaining investor confidence in the DRC’s sovereign credit profile, as the nation seeks to establish a track record of responsible debt management in international markets.

The DRC’s entry into the Eurobond market was a milestone for the resource-rich nation, providing access to long-term financing beyond traditional commodity-linked revenue streams.
