Moza Banco has reported a net profit of 273.9 million meticais (MZN) for the first half of 2026, marking a sharp reversal from the 149.6 million meticais loss recorded in the same period last year.

The interim results, seen by Lusa, indicate that the lender has successfully navigated the operational challenges that weighed on its bottom line in 2025.

The financial margin expanded during the period, driving the return to profitability.

While the absolute scale of the profit is modest, the swing from loss to gain suggests improved cost management and potentially stronger net interest margins in Mozambique's banking sector.

The bank's ability to reverse losses in a single half-year points to a responsive business model, likely benefiting from stabilizing macroeconomic conditions in the country.

This development aligns with broader signs of recovery in Mozambique's financial system.
