Diesel prices in Portugal are projected to rise by two cents per litre next week, while gasoline is expected to fall by one cent, according to estimates from the Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP).
The forecast assumes current market trends persist through the upcoming pricing cycle.
The diverging price movements offer a slight reprieve for petrol drivers but increase costs for diesel-dependent transport and logistics sectors.
This follows a period of significant volatility in the Portuguese fuel market, where motorists recently faced sharp increases that pushed both gasoline and diesel prices close to the €2 per litre threshold for the first time in recent months.
Previous estimates from the National Authority for Energy had projected larger jumps, with diesel expected to rise by seven cents and gasoline by three cents.
The ACP's latest figures suggest a moderation in the upward pressure on gasoline, though diesel remains under upward pressure.
