Global central banks accelerated their gold accumulation in June, purchasing a record 51 tonnes of the metal, according to data from the World Gold Council (WGC).
The figure marks the highest monthly total on record and extends a streak of aggressive official-sector buying that has now lasted three months.
Poland and China emerged as the primary drivers of the June demand, leading the charge among sovereign buyers.
The surge in official purchases comes on the heels of a robust May, where central banks acquired 41 tonnes, with Poland, China, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan at the forefront of accumulation efforts.
The June data caps a historic second quarter for official-sector demand.
Global central banks purchased a record 289 tonnes of gold in Q2 2026, a figure that represents a fivefold increase compared to the revised first-quarter total.
