The German DAX regained footing on Thursday, climbing 0.2% to 26,168 points as a broad influx of corporate earnings reports provided underlying support to European equities.

The index had opened the session with modest gains, reflecting a shift in sentiment after days of volatility driven by profit-taking following a recent string of record highs.

Wednesday saw the index initially touch a third consecutive record high of 26,403 points before selling pressure returned, highlighting the fragility of the rally.

The recovery comes after a turbulent week for the benchmark.

On Tuesday, the DAX opened 0.2% lower at 25,770 points, weighed down by a sharp selloff in technology stocks that spilled over from Asian markets.

That decline was partly triggered by disappointing earnings results from Samsung, which cast a shadow over the broader tech sector.
