Mozambique’s private sector recorded its strongest performance in three years during July, driven by a notable strengthening in output growth and increased purchasing activity.

The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) climbed to a three-year high, reflecting robust demand that has helped sustain business expansion across the country.

Business expectations also reached elevated levels, suggesting that the momentum in the private sector is likely to persist into the coming months.

The improvement in the PMI indicates that companies are responding positively to the current economic environment, with order books filling and production lines ramping up to meet consumer and industrial needs.

This development comes as other emerging markets show mixed signals.

While the US private sector activity accelerated sharply in July, with the S&P Global composite PMI rising to 53.6, and the Philippines saw manufacturing expand for a third consecutive month, Mozambique’s jump to a three-year high stands out as a significant regional bright spot.
