Power Grid Corporation of India reported a slight year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026.
The state-owned transmission operator posted net earnings of ₹3,598.42 crore, down from ₹3,630.58 crore in the same period last year.
The profit dip occurred despite an increase in total income for the quarter.
The company attributed the margin pressure to significant capital expenditure required for ongoing infrastructure projects.
This pattern mirrors recent results from other Indian power sector entities, including Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Ltd and REC Limited, which also reported profit declines amid rising costs and margin pressures.
Power Grid Corporation remains a critical component of India's energy infrastructure, managing the country's high-voltage transmission network.
