The comments follow earlier signals from US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who suggested an imminent deal on the strait was likely.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global energy flows, and any movement toward de-escalation directly impacts risk premiums embedded in crude oil and freight markets.
Rubio’s remarks come as the US continues to pursue a diplomatic path with Tehran, conditional on halting attacks in the region.
