The accident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Police say Andrew Smith was standing near the left rear of a garbage truck that had been parked along the roadside when he allegedly fell into the traffic lane.
Smith was subsequently struck by an approaching school bus and died from his injuries. Public reports have identified the victim as 39-year-old Andrew Alexander Smith. ( Facebook )
The bus driver was detained, and urine samples were obtained as part of the standard investigative process. Police have not indicated whether impairment is suspected.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident are continuing.
