Maritime Launch Services Ltd. has secured a 10-year agreement with German aerospace manufacturer Isar Aerospace to utilize its developing spaceport in Nova Scotia.

The deal establishes the operational framework for the site, which aims to become Canada's first commercial orbital launch facility, with the first missions targeted for 2028.

Construction on the launch pad is scheduled to begin this year, according to reports from The Globe and Mail.

The partnership with Isar Aerospace, a key player in the European small-satellite launch market, provides Maritime Launch Services with a committed tenant and validates the commercial viability of the Atlantic coast site.

This development adds to a growing cluster of defense and aerospace activity involving Canadian and European partners.

Recent Handelsavisen coverage has highlighted similar cross-border collaborations, including Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems' selection for Canada's new submarine fleet and Swedish provider Ovzon's renewed NATO defense contracts.
