This follows previous nationwide audits by state-owned oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, which reported no evidence of fuel adulteration or water contamination.
While the policy shift signals a stricter regulatory environment for India's downstream fuel sector, it is unlikely to have an immediate material impact on global crude oil benchmarks such as Brent or WTI.
