China has imposed export controls on 10 US companies, targeting firms involved in the defence sector and rare earths mining.

The move, announced by Beijing on Monday, serves as a direct response to Washington’s recent blacklist of Chinese entities, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing trade dispute between the two economic powers.

In addition to the export restrictions, China has banned public procurement from dozens of additional US firms.

The targeted list includes Oshkosh Defense, a manufacturer of military vehicles, alongside other companies with ties to the US military or critical mineral supply chains.

This broadens the scope of Beijing’s retaliation beyond previous measures, which have largely focused on technology and semiconductor sectors.

The decision underscores the deepening rift in US-China relations, with both sides increasingly using trade policy as a tool for geopolitical leverage.
