Indian equity markets are closed on Friday, June 26, in observance of the Islamic holy day Muharram.
The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have suspended trading across equity, derivatives, and currency segments for the day.
The closure follows a modestly positive session on Thursday, where benchmarks extended their winning streak to a third consecutive week.
The BSE Sensex closed at 77,100.47, gaining 109.25 points or 0.14%.
The Nifty 50 added 34.35 points to finish the session.
Lower crude oil prices provided a key counterweight to persistent global headwinds, supporting investor sentiment ahead of the holiday break.
