Indonesia has inaugurated a new gas processing facility in Tuban, East Java, marking a step toward reducing the country's dependence on imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia officiated the opening, highlighting the project's role in strengthening domestic energy security.

The Tuban plant adds to Indonesia's efforts to expand local gas processing capabilities.

By increasing domestic production of LPG and natural gas, the government seeks to lower import bills and stabilize supply for both industrial and household consumers.

The move aligns with broader policy goals to enhance energy self-sufficiency amid fluctuating global commodity prices.

This development follows recent initiatives by state-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) to bring additional natural gas into the market.
