Italgas has announced a €1 billion investment plan to expand Greece’s natural gas distribution network, marking a significant step in the country’s energy infrastructure development.

The Italian distributor intends to extend the network by 2,700 kilometers, an increase of 200 km compared with its previous plan, according to Naftemporiki.

The expansion is expected to raise the number of connected customers, strengthening the domestic market’s capacity and reliability.

The move underscores growing confidence in Greece’s energy sector, which has seen increased attention from investors and policymakers alike.

Greek equity markets have recently pivoted toward domestic corporate developments, including the initial public offering of the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) and dividend announcements from Metlen Energy and Viohalco.

Italgas’s commitment aligns with this trend, signaling long-term growth potential in the region.
