Global liquefied natural gas markets are repricing sharply following a major explosion at Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial zone, the country's primary energy processing hub.

The blast, which occurred at the Barzan local gas supply facility, has killed 13 people and injured 66 others, according to official figures released by Qatari authorities.

Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi confirmed the casualty count and stated that the incident was an accident, ruling out sabotage or hostile intent.

Despite the minister's assurance that the event was not malicious, the location of the blast within the critical Ras Laffan complex has triggered immediate concern among traders regarding potential disruptions to LNG production and export capacity.

Qatar is the world's largest LNG exporter, and the Ras Laffan hub is central to its export infrastructure.

Any operational downtime at the Barzan facility or associated processing units could tighten global supply, particularly for Asian markets that rely heavily on Qatari cargoes.
