Malawi's Chancy Kaunda re-arrested in South Africa as wildlife corruption probe deepens

The arrest follows a controversial decision by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to discontinue the corruption case against Lin Yunhua, a Chinese national accused of wildlife trafficking.

Legal observers and civil society groups have questioned the basis for dropping the charges, citing concerns over transparency and the integrity of the judicial process.

This development adds to a series of legal maneuvers involving the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Just days prior, the ACB reportedly failed to convince the High Court to extend restriction notices on certain bank accounts linked to the investigation.
