MetaOptics Ltd. has begun shipping metalens prototypes for smartphones and AI smart glasses to customers in Europe and Japan for evaluation.

The Singapore-based semiconductor optics company, listed on the Catalist board, confirmed the shipments in a press release on Thursday, marking a tangible step in the commercialization of its diffractive optical technology.

The move signals that MetaOptics is transitioning from R&D to early-stage customer validation.

By targeting both smartphone and smart-glass form factors, the company is positioning its metalens technology as a versatile component for the broader AI hardware ecosystem.

This aligns with a wider industry trend where optical innovation is becoming a key differentiator in wearable and mobile devices.

The development adds another layer to the rapidly evolving AI hardware supply chain.
