The Festival's preparation kicked off yesterday with a roadshow in Kimbe Town to purposely make awareness towards the actual Festival starting on Thursday this week.

"Though preparation has already started, this roadshow is to raise awareness towards the actual event that will occur from the 25th to 27th," said Promotion & Marketing Officer – Tourism and Arts, Nelson Sengel.

"There will also be exhibitions from NBPOL and HARGY showing the Palm Oil processing all the way to its finished product," added Sengel.

"The venue will be at Maneke Stadium, Hoskins Station, whereas last year it was held at Kapore Stadium," said Nelson Sengel.

There will be different cultural performances from the various participants from around the Districts in WNB, and showcasing activities from the sponsoring companies.

"There will be different cultural performances and activities such as Rai, Murmur, Stringband, Mask dance and others," said Sengel.

"There will also be exhibitions from NBPOL and HARGY showing the Palm Oil processing all the way to its finished product," added Sengel.

Other stakeholders that will also do its exhibition is the Cocoa Board and Fisheries from the WNB Provincial Government, among others.

"Cocoa Board and Fisheries will be showcasing their products and giving out information. It is a good time if you are interested in joining or learning about Cocoa, Fisheries and Palm Oil," he concluded.

Moreover, there will be musical performances from two major PNG Artists which are Junior Narox ("Besty Pabeke singer") and Justice Mokiniz. They will be co-performing with the local Simple Jam Band (SJB) from Kimbe. SJB and these artists will make up the only performing stage band for these three (3) days of the festival.

Finally, the Oil Palm Festival is an open event, meaning there will be no fees charged on entry, and everyone who does not have anything or will be doing nothing on these Festival's mentioned dates is most welcome to attend.

Meanwhile, apart from the roadshow, there is a panel discussion today.
