An explosion at a liquefied natural gas processing facility in Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial zone has killed at least 13 people and injured 66 others, according to Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi.

The incident occurred at the Barzan local gas supply plant during a restart procedure, with the blast strong enough to be felt in central Doha.

The accident at one of the world’s largest LNG export hubs has triggered immediate concerns about potential supply disruptions.

While the full extent of the damage to production capacity remains unclear, the Barzan facility plays a critical role in Qatar’s gas infrastructure.

Traders are closely monitoring reports for any indication of output cuts or delays in shipments to key markets in Europe and Asia.

Qatar is a leading global LNG exporter, and any sustained disruption at Ras Laffan could tighten already constrained global gas supplies.
