Russia has signaled it will not allow the proposed Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) to bypass its security oversight in the South Caucasus.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated that the transport corridor will inevitably pass through areas guarded by Russian border troops, effectively giving Moscow a veto over the project's implementation.

The assertion of control comes as geopolitical tensions between Moscow and Yerevan intensify.

Russia recently imposed a comprehensive import ban on Armenian goods, a move analysts warn could inflict significant damage on Armenia’s economy by cutting off access to key export markets.

The diplomatic pressure underscores Russia's determination to maintain strategic leverage over regional infrastructure projects.

The TRIPP initiative, designed to create a new trade corridor linking Europe and Asia via Armenia, faces substantial headwinds.
