South Korea’s export engine is accelerating sharply, with outbound shipments jumping 60.4% year-on-year in the first 20 days of June.

The data, released Monday, shows the country’s external sector is gaining significant momentum as global demand appears to be stabilizing across key markets.

8% surge in April exports, its fastest growth since January, while China’s May external trade performance also exceeded expectations with a 19.

Outbound shipments reached US$62 billion during the June 1-20 period, a substantial increase from the same window last year.

This early-month surge suggests that Korean manufacturers are benefiting from improved order books and potentially easing supply chain constraints, positioning the country for a strong full-month result when official customs data is finalized.

The strength in South Korea’s trade figures adds to a growing pattern of export resilience across Asia.

Japan recently reported a 14.8% surge in April exports, its fastest growth since January, while China’s May external trade performance also exceeded expectations with a 19.4% year-on-year jump in exports.
