Strategy has authorized a new capital management framework that includes a $1 billion share repurchase program and the ability to sell portions of its Bitcoin holdings.

The company also established a dollar reserve policy, signaling a move toward more traditional corporate Treasury management while maintaining its exposure to digital assets.

This development represents a significant evolution in the company’s strategy, which was previously defined by an aggressive, accumulation-only approach to Bitcoin.

By permitting the sale of crypto assets to fund buybacks, Strategy is providing shareholders with a direct mechanism to benefit from the appreciation of its digital asset holdings, rather than relying solely on equity price appreciation.

The authorization allows the company to liquidate parts of its Bitcoin portfolio to finance the repurchase of ordinary shares.

This flexibility addresses previous constraints that limited the firm’s ability to return capital to investors without issuing new debt or equity.
