Andhra Pradesh’s state tax revenue climbed 16% year-on-year to nearly ₹5,000 crore in June 2026, signaling robust fiscal performance for the southern Indian state.
The growth was primarily fueled by a 21% surge in Net Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections, according to data released by the state’s chief commissioner of state tax, A Babu.
Recent reports indicate that other state governments have also posted sharp increases in excise revenues, with some jurisdictions seeing growth rates as high as 82% in the April-May period.
The revenue uptick reflects the impact of new administrative initiatives introduced during the fiscal year, which officials say have generated significant incremental income.
The strong GST performance suggests improved compliance or higher economic activity within the state’s taxable sectors, providing a positive signal for the state’s budgetary position as the financial year concludes.
This development aligns with a broader trend of strengthening state finances across India.
