Argentina’s Secretary of Energy and Mining Coordination, Daniel González, has stated that residential gas supply remains guaranteed despite a severe polar cold wave sweeping the country.
Speaking on Thursday, González emphasized that the energy system is operating "perfectly well" so far this winter, even as the nation records its lowest temperatures of the year.
The assurance comes as markets monitor potential supply constraints in Latin America’s second-largest economy.
While González projected stability for household consumers, he introduced a caveat, noting that supply security is maintained "as long as there are no unforeseen events." This conditional language leaves open the possibility of disruptions should infrastructure or logistics face unexpected stress during the extreme weather.
The comments reflect ongoing efforts by the Argentine government to manage energy demand during peak winter months.
With residential consumption typically spiking during cold snaps, the administration is balancing supply guarantees with the reality of limited infrastructure resilience.
