AWL Agri Business Ltd has endorsed the expansion of regenerative farming techniques for mustard cultivation, pointing to early success from a pilot program run by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA).
The company stated that the initiative’s results demonstrate the viability of sustainable agricultural practices in strengthening the domestic edible oil value chain while improving farmer incomes.
The SEA’s Regenerative Mustard Model Farm Programme, which operated across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana, reported measurable increases in mustard yields and profitability for participating farmers.
AWL Agri Business highlighted these outcomes as evidence that regenerative methods can address structural vulnerabilities in India’s edible oil sector, which remains heavily dependent on imports.
India is the world’s largest importer of edible oils, with mustard serving as a critical domestic crop for self-sufficiency efforts.
The push for regenerative agriculture aligns with broader industry goals to enhance soil health and crop resilience, potentially reducing the volatility associated with global supply shocks.
