Rail connectivity on the Mumbai-Pune corridor has been severely disrupted after the Central Railway cancelled 30 long-distance and intercity trains.

The suspension of services is expected to last until July 17, following landslides on the critical Bhor Ghat section of the track.

The disruption strikes one of India’s most vital logistics arteries, linking the financial capital of Mumbai with the industrial hub of Pune.

With rail services halted, freight and passenger traffic will face significant bottlenecks, likely shifting volume to road networks that are also under pressure from heavy rainfall.

The cancellation affects both intercity commuters and long-distance travelers, creating immediate logistical friction for businesses reliant on just-in-time supply chains in the region.

The incident occurs as severe monsoon rains are set to intensify across West and Central India over the next four days, according to forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
