The Colombo Stock Exchange closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark All Share Price Index slipping 0.06 percent.

Capital goods stocks accounted for the largest share of trading turnover during the session, according to exchange data reported by EconomyNext.

The modest decline marks a continuation of recent selling pressure in Sri Lankan equities.

The market had closed lower on Wednesday, with the All-Share index settling at 22,208.58 points, down 0.21 percent from the previous day.

That session was characterized by weakness in the real estate sector, which weighed on broader sentiment.

Prior to Wednesday’s drop, the index had posted a marginal gain on Tuesday, settling at 22,256.49 points.
