The Colombo Stock Exchange closed in positive territory on Friday, breaking a five-day losing streak that had weighed heavily on investor sentiment.
The benchmark index had shed 405.48 points since the previous Friday, according to exchange data, before buyers stepped in to stabilize the market at the end of the week.
The Friday recovery follows a volatile session for Sri Lankan equities earlier in the week.
The market had seen sporadic support from specific sectors, with healthcare stocks providing a lift on Tuesday and major blue-chip names, including Dialog Axiata, driving a 0.89% rise in the All Share Price Index on Thursday.
Despite these intraday rallies, the broader index remained under pressure until Friday's close.
The rebound suggests that selling pressure may have eased after the significant weekly drawdown.
