Ghana Exim Bank has officially joined the UN Global Compact, marking a significant step in the country's corporate sustainability drive.

The move aligns the state-owned export-import lender with international standards for responsible business conduct, joining a growing list of regional financial institutions committing to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.

Tolu Kweku Lacroix, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Ghana, described the bank's participation as a critical development that strengthens the collective effort toward sustainable development goals.

The initiative urges Ghanaian firms to accelerate their sustainability agendas, moving beyond symbolic gestures to integrate ESG metrics into core business strategies.

The trend is already visible across the sector.

Benet Frimpong, Unit Head of Public Relations at Prudential Bank, recently highlighted that the bank's sustainability commitment extends well beyond tree-planting exercises.
