Severe monsoon rains are set to intensify across West and Central India over the next four days, according to forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF).
The weather system is expected to persist until July 10 before beginning a retreat toward the west coast, parts of North-West India, and the Himalayan foothills.
This development marks a sharp escalation in rainfall intensity following a period of below-average precipitation.
The Indian monsoon had recently entered a revival phase, with the rain belt expanding to cover central India, western India, and the west coast.
However, the current forecast indicates a more aggressive pattern than the modest improvements seen in recent days.
For markets, the primary concern lies in potential disruptions to agricultural logistics and transport infrastructure.
