The Israeli government has significantly accelerated the use of military orders to expand settlement jurisdiction in the West Bank since October 2023, according to a new study by the advocacy group Bimkom.

The data reveals that officials have issued 114 such orders, establishing or expanding administrative control over areas that allow for separate settlements under distinct municipal frameworks.

This administrative push coincides with a broader shift in Israeli military strategy, as forces previously engaged in Lebanon are being redirected to conduct extensive operations in the occupied territories.

The expansion of jurisdictional control represents a structural deepening of the occupation, moving beyond temporary security measures to permanent administrative reorganization.

This development adds another layer of complexity to the ongoing conflict, which has seen a severe intensification in recent months.

Reports indicate that the rate of Palestinian child fatalities in the West Bank has reached its highest level since 1967, signaling a dramatic escalation in the human cost of the conflict.
