Israeli technology start-ups are stepping in to help commercial vessels navigate the Strait of Hormuz, deploying advanced navigation systems designed to counter the growing threat of cheap Iranian drones and GPS jamming.

The development comes as shipping through the world's most vital oil route remains fraught with danger, following recent attacks on commercial traffic.

The push for technological solutions follows a series of high-profile incidents in the strait.

On June 25, the Singaporean-flagged container ship Ever Lovely was struck by an Iranian one-way attack drone while transiting the corridor.

Just two days later, the Panamanian-flagged crude oil tanker Kiku suffered a similar hit, underscoring the persistent risk to maritime commerce in the region.

These attacks have kept geopolitical risk premiums elevated in energy markets, even as diplomatic efforts continue.

The United States and Iran are currently negotiating a peace roadmap in Switzerland, but the reopening of the strait has not yet translated into a secure environment for commercial shipping.
