A magnitude 5.81 earthquake struck offshore of Mindanao in the Philippines on Monday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) stated that no damage or significant aftershocks were expected from the tremor.

The event comes shortly after a 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit the southern coast of the Philippines on Friday, which followed a deadly 7.8-magnitude tremor that impacted Mindanao earlier in the month.

The region has experienced heightened seismic activity, raising concerns about infrastructure resilience and potential disruptions to local supply chains.

While the latest quake was moderate in strength, its proximity to the recent major events has kept markets attentive to any signs of broader instability in the area.

Traders are monitoring for any updates on infrastructure damage or shifts in shipping routes, although no immediate impact on global commodity flows is anticipated given the offshore location and low damage forecast.
