Thai police have identified the mechanism behind a roadside explosion in Narathiwat province that injured two Malaysian nationals on Monday.
Investigators believe the improvised explosive device was concealed inside a cooking gas cylinder and buried by the roadside in the Tak Bai district.
Authorities stated that the blast was not intended to target the Malaysian victims, who were caught in the vicinity of the detonation.
The discovery of the gas cylinder casing provides critical evidence regarding the construction and placement of the device.
The incident underscores the persistent security challenges in southern Thailand, where separatist violence has periodically disrupted local stability.
While the blast itself is a localized security event, it occurs against a backdrop of heightened sensitivity regarding energy infrastructure safety globally.
