NATO fighter jets stationed at Lithuania's Zokniai Air Base escorted Russian military aircraft 24 times in June, according to data released by the Lithuanian Defense Ministry.
The figure highlights the continued operational tempo required to monitor and identify Russian flights near the airspace of the Baltic republics.
The ministry described the air escort procedure as a routine control measure for the alliance.
These intercepts are part of NATO's Air Policing mission, which ensures the sovereignty of member states' airspace by scrambling fighters to identify and track unidentified or potentially threatening aircraft.
The June data follows a period of heightened activity in the region.
Handelsavisen previously reported that NATO jets were scrambled four times in a single week last month to identify Russian aircraft that violated flight rules over the Baltic states.
