A NATO intelligence and reconnaissance aircraft, identified as a Bombardier Challenger 650 Artemis II, conducted a flight over the Baltic countries and along Estonia’s coast in the Gulf of Finland on Monday.

The operation was reported by TASS, citing an EU source, and noted that the aircraft did not approach regions bordering Russia or Belarus.

The reconnaissance mission underscores the persistent tension in the Baltic region, where air policing remains a daily operational reality for NATO allies.

The flight path, focused on the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic states, aligns with standard surveillance activities aimed at monitoring regional security dynamics.

This development follows a week of heightened activity, during which NATO fighter jets were scrambled four times to identify and escort Russian aircraft that violated flight rules over the Baltic states, according to Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence.

The intercepts highlight the ongoing need for vigilance as Russian military operations increasingly probe NATO air defense networks across Europe.
