Nigeria is accelerating its industrialization of the critical minerals sector with the unveiling of a $200 million lithium processing plant in Zamfara State.
The project is projected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs, marking a significant step in the country's effort to move beyond raw ore exports toward domestic value addition.
The development comes as the Federal Government seeks to diversify the economy and attract foreign direct investment into non-oil sectors.
By establishing local processing capacity, Nigeria aims to position itself as a key supplier in the global electric vehicle battery supply chain, reducing reliance on traditional hydrocarbon revenues.
This initiative builds on recent momentum in the sector.
Nigeria previously commissioned a lithium mining and processing facility in Zamfara State, described as a major expansion of industrial capacity.
