The LPG Importers Association of Pakistan (LPGIAP) has issued a stark warning that a serious nationwide shortage of liquefied petroleum gas is imminent, urging immediate government intervention to resolve a critical pricing dispute.

The association stated that several importers have already reduced or suspended their operations because the price notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) does not accurately reflect the actual landed cost of imported LPG.

The core of the conflict lies in the gap between the regulator's notified prices and the real-world economics of importing the fuel.

Importers argue that without a sustainable pricing framework that accounts for current landed costs, they cannot maintain viable supply chains.

This misalignment has forced some market participants to halt activities, directly threatening the availability of LPG for domestic consumers and industrial users.

This development highlights the fragility of Pakistan's energy supply chain when regulatory pricing mechanisms lag behind global market realities.
