Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has directed Petroleum Minister Jimmy Maladina to address all outstanding issues surrounding the Papua LNG project.

The instruction, delivered at Apec House in Port Moresby, signals a high-level government effort to resolve lingering disputes that have threatened the development's progress.

The move comes as political leaders in the country work to quell concerns regarding compensation for communities affected by the project.

Marape and other officials have previously asserted that no landowners will be excluded from payments, aiming to stabilize the social license required for the massive energy infrastructure.

The Papua LNG Development Forum, currently underway in Port Moresby, serves as the central platform for these discussions, with an official launch scheduled for Friday.

For global energy markets, the Papua LNG project represents a significant potential supply addition to the liquefied natural gas market, particularly for Asia.
