Russia has temporarily suspended shipping operations through the Don-Azov Channel, a critical navigable link between the Don River and the Sea of Azov.

Three grain export industry sources confirmed the halt on Friday, citing the immediate aftermath of Ukrainian military actions in the region.

The disruption directly impacts grain trade flows, as the channel serves as a key artery for agricultural exports from southern Russia.

The suspension comes amid escalating tensions in the Black Sea basin, where Ukrainian forces have intensified their campaign against Russian maritime infrastructure.

This development follows reports that Ukrainian defense forces struck 12 Russian oil tankers, a tugboat, and a cargo ship in the Sea of Azov earlier this week.

The strikes mark a significant escalation in Kyiv’s targeting of Moscow’s energy and logistics networks, aiming to disrupt revenue streams and supply chains.
