Technomar Shipping has become the latest member of the Commercial Shipping Security Forum (CSSF), marking a significant expansion for the industry group focused on maritime security and risk mitigation.

The Greek tanker operator attended a CSSF meeting in Athens in May 2026 as a guest before formally submitting its application for membership, which was subsequently approved.

Søren Thuen, the first chairman of the CSSF Management Board, welcomed Technomar’s entry, highlighting the importance of broadening the coalition of operators committed to shared security standards.

The move comes at a time when shipping companies are increasingly prioritizing collective intelligence and coordinated responses to threats in high-risk zones.

The alliance’s growth reflects the broader industry response to escalating geopolitical tensions affecting global trade routes.

With recent reports indicating that major charterers, including MRPL, have canceled crude shipments due to concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, the need for robust security frameworks has never been more critical.
