Stanislav Luchanov, the commander of Ukraine’s 155th "Anne of Kyiv" brigade, has been charged with kidnapping and murder in connection with the deaths of two civilians in Kyiv Oblast.
Several other members of the brigade have also been detained as part of the investigation, according to reports from Kyiv Independent.
The case highlights ongoing issues with discipline and accountability within certain units of the Ukrainian armed forces.
The 155th brigade has previously been the subject of scrutiny amid broader concerns about military conduct and internal security protocols.
This development comes against a backdrop of significant personnel challenges for Ukraine’s military.
Reports indicate that approximately 200,000 soldiers have left the army without authorization since the start of the war, raising questions about retention and morale.
