US federal authorities have detained Carlos Antonio Lloga Domínguez, a US resident of over a decade, in connection with his role in facilitating a trip to Cuba for online personality Hasan Piker.

Lloga Domínguez is currently in federal custody and faces imminent deportation alongside his wife and son.

The detention marks a sharp escalation in the enforcement of US travel and engagement restrictions with Cuba.

While previous measures have focused on financial institutions and corporate entities, this action targets individuals directly involved in organizing cross-border visits, signaling a broader net for compliance enforcement.

This development follows recent announcements by US Senator Marco Rubio regarding new sanctions targeting Cuba.

The United States has also imposed sanctions on five Cuban entities, including the island's primary banking institution for foreign investors, aiming to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting international transactions.
