Business Description

Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy, LLC is engaged in the production of ethanol. It is permitted to produce up to 147 million gallons of ethanol per year. It sells its ethanol, distillers grains, corn condensed distillers solubles or syrup, distillers corn oil and carbon dioxide in the continental United States, Mexico, and the Pacific Rim. Its ethanol product (ethyl alcohol) is a fuel component made from corn and various other grains, which can be used as an octane enhancer in fuels; an oxygenated fuel additive for the purpose of reducing ozone and carbon monoxide vehicle emissions, and a non-petroleum-based gasoline substitute. It produces two forms of distillers grains: wet distillers grains with solubles (WDGS) and dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS). WDGS have a shelf life of around seven days and are sold to local markets. DDGS have a longer shelf life and may be sold and shipped to any market.
