Amazon has begun licensing its in-house artificial intelligence shopping technology to third-party retailers, marking a strategic shift to expand the reach of its Alexa-powered e-commerce tools.

The company, which has long used AI to streamline its own customer experience, is now positioning Alexa as a central component of its artificial intelligence shopping strategy.

Kate Spade has already signed on as a customer for the new service, according to CNBC.

The development comes as Amazon continues to refine its AI-driven shopping capabilities, having previously discontinued its Rufus chatbot in favor of a more integrated Alexa-based approach.

The new offering, dubbed Alexa for Shopping, is designed to help retailers automate product comparisons, reordering, and personalized recommendations for their customers.

This expansion into the retail sector aligns with broader industry trends toward AI-powered automation in e-commerce.
