Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has agreed to sell a 49% stake in its Vizhinjam International Seaport to Switzerland-based MSC Group for $1.4 billion.

The transaction, described by Adani as the largest foreign private investment in an Indian port, solidifies the partnership between the two logistics giants.

This marks the third joint venture between Adani Ports and MSC, following previous collaborations at the Mundra and Ennore ports.

The deal underscores MSC's growing commitment to the Indian market and its strategy to secure long-term access to key infrastructure nodes along major trade routes.

The Vizhinjam port, located in Kerala, is a critical deep-water terminal designed to handle large container vessels and transshipment cargo.

The investment is expected to accelerate the port's development and enhance its capacity to serve as a major hub for Indian Ocean trade flows.
