Castor Maritime has agreed to purchase a 2023-built Kamsarmax bulk carrier for $37.5 million, the company announced on Tuesday.

The Greek shipping group signed the deal through a subsidiary to acquire the eco-efficient vessel from an unaffiliated third party.

The $37.5 million price tag reflects the premium for modern, eco-design bulkers in the current second-hand market.

Delivery of the ship is expected by the end of the current quarter, subject to standard closing conditions.

The acquisition underscores Castor Maritime’s strategy to refresh its fleet with newer, fuel-efficient tonnage.

In a market where operational costs and environmental regulations are increasingly driving fleet composition, adding a 2023-built vessel allows the company to optimize its cost structure and meet stricter emissions standards.
