Godrej Properties Limited (GPL) has acquired a 47-acre land parcel in Chennai through an outright purchase, targeting a new residential development with an estimated revenue potential of ₹500 crore.

The site, located off Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), is positioned in one of the city's fastest-growing micro-markets and offers approximately 1.2 million square feet of developable area.

The project is planned primarily as plotted residential units, aligning with the developer's strategy to capitalize on high-demand suburban corridors.

The acquisition underscores GPL's aggressive land-bank expansion in South India, where OMR has emerged as a premium destination for both end-users and investors.

By securing a large contiguous plot in this corridor, the developer strengthens its inventory pipeline ahead of potential regulatory or market shifts.

The outright purchase structure suggests confidence in the asset's long-term value appreciation, avoiding the complexities of joint-venture models often seen in large-scale Indian real estate deals.
