HDFC Bank has named Puneet Sharma as its new chief financial officer, with the appointment taking effect on December 1, 2026.
Sharma will join the lender as CFO-designate starting September 1, allowing for a transition period before assuming full responsibilities.
Sharma brings extensive experience from his previous role as CFO of Axis Bank, where he served for more than six years.
He resigned from Axis Bank on Sunday, clearing the way for his move to India’s largest private sector lender by assets.
The appointment fills a critical executive vacancy at a time when the bank is consolidating its leadership structure.
This executive change follows a period of significant governance activity at HDFC Bank.
